Delete your account and data
Storytime
A website and mobile app operated by Dreamgoat Ltd
Last updated: 16 September 2026
Two ways to ask, with different outcomes
Both close your account. They differ in what happens to the data behind it, so choose the one you actually want.
1. Delete my account
We close your account and you lose access to it. Your personal information is then kept for up to 24 months before being anonymised. Choose this if you simply want to stop using Storytime.
2. Erase my data (right to be forgotten)
We close your account and erase your personal information, within the period the law allows us. Under UK and EU data protection law that is normally one month. Choose this if you want your data gone, not just your account closed.
Either button opens your email app with the request ready to send. You can also write to privacy@dreamgoat.co.uk directly.
Send it from the email address on the account where you can, so we can confirm the request is genuinely yours. If you cannot, tell us the account email address in the message and we will verify it another way before deleting anything.
You do not need the app installed, and you do not need to sign in, to make either request.
What gets deleted
With either request, we delete:
- Your Storytime account and your ability to sign in to it
- Your name and email address
- Family Data you entered, including children's names, ages, family relationship details, and any avatar generated for a child
- Stories and other content generated in your account
- Usage and analytics data tied to you or your device
- Your entry on our waitlist, if you joined it
Photographs are already handled separately: where you supply a photo so we can generate a child's avatar, we delete the original photo once the avatar has been created, rather than keeping it.
What we keep, and for how long
If you deleted your account without asking us to erase your data, we keep your personal information for up to 24 months, or less where deletion is technically and operationally feasible sooner. At the end of that period we anonymise it, meaning we irreversibly remove or replace anything that could identify you or your family, so the remaining records can no longer be linked to any individual. Once genuinely anonymised, that data is no longer personal information and we may keep it for analytics and service improvement.
If you asked us to erase your data, we do not hold it for that period. We action the erasure within the time the applicable regulation sets, normally one month under UK and EU law.
In both cases, where the law requires us to keep limited records for longer, for example for tax, accounting, or fraud prevention, we keep only what that obligation requires, for no longer than it requires.
Section 13 of our Privacy Policy describes our retention practice in full.
How long it takes
We acknowledge every request as soon as we can, and always within 30 days. An erasure request is completed within the period the applicable regulation sets, normally one month under UK and EU law. If we need longer, for example because we have to verify your identity first, we will tell you why and when to expect completion.
Other privacy rights
Deletion is one of several rights you have. You can also request access to your information, correct it, restrict or object to how we use it, or receive a copy in a portable format. Section 14 of our Privacy Policy sets these out, including the rights that apply specifically to residents of the UK and EU, the United States, and Canada.
